"Our House"

On the porch gently rocks the swing
Large enough now
For three or four cousins in a row
With feet dangling
Almost long enough to reach
The short concrete wall
That holds in the porch.
The lawn splits in two
Revealing the sidewalk
Extending the steps leading inside.
Trees line the yard, and,
In the front corner --
To the left --
A small forest of trees clumps together
About and around the ancient
Concrete pond
No bigger than a bathtub.
From beneath these trees I watch
As cousins, aunts, uncles and aprents
Teem and swirl about the yard
While grandma cooks the turkey,
And grandpa talked and laughed,
And all is right with the world
At this home.
